Fact: Restless Legs Syndrome usually worsens as you get older and women are more likely than men to develop the condition.
Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS) is a condition in which your legs feel agitated, twitchy or uncomfortable when you sit or lay down for extended periods of time, such as bedtime. Some people are able to get temporary relief by massaging the legs or standing up and walking around. But, over time, RLS can disrupt sleep — leading to daytime fatigue — and also make traveling difficult.
Decatur Vein Clinic uses ultrasound imaging (mapping) to determine whether Chronic Venous Insufficiency (poor blood flow) is the cause of the RLS symptoms. In such cases, Decatur Vein Clinic treatments have eliminated patients’ restlessness enabling them to relax or sleep comfortably.

Assessment and Diagnosis: 4 easy steps
Step 1. Consultation
First, we determine if you actually need our help. With your consultation, you’ll soon know your options, including treatments, insurance and scheduling.
Step 2. Physical Exam
We conduct a physical exam to determine your general health; to investigate in detail your symptoms; to discuss your medical history and any previous treatment or therapies.
Step 3. Vein Mapping
After your consultation, you will receive a “vein mapping” (ultrasound) to get pictures and measurements of your veins. We’ll also be able to see the flow of your venous blood, which tells us if your vein valves are damaged (called reflux).
Step 4. Schedule Your Treatments
With our flexible scheduling and non-surgical treatments, you’ll soon be on your way to better feeling, better looking legs. Learn more about treatments offered at Decatur Vein Clinic.
Insurance Coverage
Following your assessment and diagnosis visit, the results of your study will be sent to your insurance company for a pre-determination of benefits under your insurance policy. Our pre-determinations team is your advocate during the approval process. We continually monitor the status of your request, including phone calls to your insurance provider.
Approval typically takes 4–6 weeks. Once you begin treatment, we file charges directly to your insurance provider. You only pay what is required by your plan: usually a co-pay or co-insurance and deductible.
We try to make this as simple for the patient as possible. Once your insurance approves the procedure, we can then proceed with treatment.
Forms of Payment
Decatur Vein Clinic accepts most insurance including Medicare. For any payment due beyond insurance, we will accept cash, check, debit and all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express). We also now accept Care Credit, a convenient way to manage your healthcare payments.
