The Assessment Process

In order to fully evaluate your varicose veins and symptoms, following your consultation will be a duplex ultrasound, also called a mapping. This is a non-invasive test that gives us pictures and measurements of your veins. It also shows us the flow of your venous blood and tells us if there is damage to the valves (called reflux). A physical exam is also conducted to determine your general health and to investigate in detail your symptoms, previous medical history and any previous treatment or therapies.

Decatur Vein Clinic is the first vein treatment center in the Midwest to be accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) *. ICAVL is a nonprofit organization established with the support of several medical societies who represent specialties including cardiology, neurology, radiology, vascular medicine, vascular surgery, neurosurgery, internal medicine and biology. Our ICAVL accreditation represents our commitment in providing a high level of patient care and quality testing for the diagnosis of vascular disease.

As a diagnostic study, most insurance companies will cover this testing.  Call for your free consult for more details about this and the treatments we offer.
